With just a barrel and magazine swap you can switch to 22 Nosler, and even build/buy a dedicated 22 Nosler upper so that you can switch and swap easily. The importance of a quality barrel cannot be overstated, so make sure you invest in a quality barrel if you are going to purchase either a 22 Nosler conversion barrel or a complete upper chambered in 22 Nosler. If you need maximum performance from an AR-15, and want to use inexpensive 22 caliber projectiles, the 22 Nosler is worth checking out! This load pushes a 70 grain projectile almost 3000 fps from an 18″ barrel. While 5.56 NATO has the highest rated pressure, it has the lowest case capacity in this lineup of cartridges. I think shooters who want an accurate, efficient cartridge with mild recoil and enough powder for our smaller big game while serving double duty keeping the local varmint population in check, or simply having fun at the range, will find this .24 Nosler works quite nicely. Case gage: 22 Nosler specific (can’t use .223/5.56 case gage) So if your press is setup for .223/5.56 reloading, you’ll need to do the following to load 22 Nosler: Swap dies; Adjust powder measure volume; That’s about it! 22 Nosler Brass. Set up a loading procedure and follow it. The case held up just fine, and I would continue loading and firing this case if the need arose. In order to test this load I fired and reloaded the same case 10 times to see how the case would hold up. If you want an AR-15 that will push velocities to the max, the 22 Nosler is up to the task.
